O’Connor is one of the largest electoral areas in the world and one of WA’s three rural electorates.
We are building a grassroots movement to change how politics is done at every level of government – federal, state and local - by bringing together the diverse people of our electorate and fostering an effective community voice.
Why we are here
Our aim is to create opportunities for people of all walks of life to be heard, to have a sense of personal agency, to experience inclusion and respect and to inspire people to be engaged in the democratic process.
We believe that the changing climate is a serious threat to us all and we will push for policies that build a sustainable society and economy that we can all thrive in.
We’re here to make democracy work, so that it serves the needs of local people and represents our views.
Who we are
We are ordinary people from across the electorate who want all levels of government to address the concerns of O’Connor residents. We know deep down that there must be a better way.
We are parents concerned about what the future holds for our children and grandchildren and we are nature lovers concerned about protecting our unique ecosystems.
We are young people concerned about our future in a world where the climate is changing, and inequality and intolerance are increasing.
We are farmers and miners concerned about the sustainability of our industries and we are workers concerned about the security of our livelihoods.
We are families concerned about access to local health and government services and we are business owners concerned about the infrastructure needed for growth.
We are voters concerned that the people who seek to represent us serve our communities effectively.
Above all else, we are people who believe in a fairness and inclusion.
What we do
We listen to the people in our communities to ensure their views and aspirations are represented fairly and effectively by our elected representatives.
We strengthen the voices of O’Connor people to local, state and federal governments
We ensure all governments know exactly what our O’Connor communities expect from them.
What We value
Caring for Country, community and family.
Respectful listening and acknowledgement.
Diversity and inclusion of people’s lived experiences.
Encouraging and supporting non-partisan participation.
Well-informed, evidence-aware, honest and transparent decision-making.
Representing our communities with dignity and integrity.
